Our Team

Staff and Educators

Our team consists of trained and qualified professionals who hold certifications in Early Childhood Education or other credentials approved by the Ministry. They are members of the College of Early Childhood Educators, first aid and CPR certified, and have undergone a clear vulnerable sector police check.

We prioritize staff training and development to enhance current performance, enrich skills, and prepare for future organizational needs. To support this commitment to professional growth, our employees engage in additional professional development activities annually.

Our staff will guide your child in exploring the world through various activities and help them develop social skills in a warm and caring environment. Feel free to approach any staff member with questions or concerns.

  • RECE, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

    Christa has more than 25 years of experience working in non-profit childcare. She has worked with children in many capacities during her career in the sector, ranging from Camp Counsellor, Camp Director, English Teacher in Taiwan, RECE, Assistant Supervisor, Supervisor, Executive Director, and CEO. Christa is the President of the Ontario Coalition for Better Childcare (OCBCC).

    Kathleen brings over 20 years of dedicated experience in the KW community, having worked both as a front-line educator and in leadership roles within childcare.

    She is deeply committed to creating nurturing, enriching environments where children, families, and educators can truly thrive.

    With a passion for empowering others, Kathleen’s goal is to support children and educators in reaching their fullest potential while fostering a positive and lasting impact on the wider community.

    Beyond her professional role, Kathleen finds joy in cooking, reading, and spending time outdoors.

    She is also a creative spirit who values making meaningful connections, and she treasures every opportunity to be with her family and close friends.

  • PEDAGOGICAL LEADER

    Faye has been an integral part of Creative Beginnings since 2017, bringing with her a strong background in the non-profit sector. She began her journey as a Supervisor and, through her passion for pedagogy and leadership, helped shape the role of Pedagogical Leader. In this capacity, Faye now supports all Creative Beginnings centres, guiding educators in their practice and fostering environments where children, families, and staff can thrive.

    Faye is a strong advocate for the importance of pedagogical learning, believing it to be the foundation for high-quality, meaningful childcare. Her commitment to professional growth led her to Italy last year to participate in Reggio Emilia training, further enriching her understanding of child-centred, inquiry-based learning. A lifelong learner herself, Faye is continually seeking new ways to inspire and support others in the field.

    Outside of work, Faye loves the fullness of life with her busy family and finds peace paddling her kayak across a quiet lake.

  • Liz joined Creative Beginnings last year as our Operations Specialist, bringing with her a rich and varied background in business operations, customer support, and entrepreneurship.

    Before transitioning into the world of early learning, Liz spent over a decade in the health and wellness space—most recently in plant-based food manufacturing, where she co-founded a dairy alternative company.

    As a new mom, Liz is especially drawn to the values and mission of Creative Beginnings, and she’s excited to apply her skills in a setting focused on care, community, and meaningful impact.

    When she’s not working, you can usually find her baking something delicious in the kitchen or spending time with her family.

    I am a dedicated professional with 18 years of experience in the childcare field. As the Site Supervisor at Creative Beginnings Early Learning and Care—Sir Adam Beck, I oversee the daily operations of all programs, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children.  I graduated from Conestoga College with distinction in 2005, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my role. I have a deep understanding of child development and have honed my skills in creating engaging and educational activities for children of all ages. I have been a part of the Creative Beginnings team for the past 5 years, where my warm and compassionate nature fosters strong relationships with both children and their families, creating a sense of trust and comfort. 

    Outside of work, I enjoy indulging in my passion for cake decorating, creating beautiful and delicious treats for special occasions. I also cherish spending time with my nieces and nephews, engaging in fun activities and creating lasting memories. Family is of utmost importance to me, and I value quality time spent with loved ones.  In my leisure time, you can often find me curled up with a good book, expanding my knowledge and exploring new worlds. My love for reading fuels my creativity and inspires me to continuously seek out new ideas and approaches in my work. I am committed to providing a nurturing and enriching environment for children, helping them thrive and reach their full potential.

  • RECE, MPEd, SIR ADAM BECK EXTENDED DAY SUPERVISOR

    Since joining CBELC in 2018, Nicole has been part of the community in many meaningful roles—as a student, parent, educator, and now supervisor. This unique journey gives her a well-rounded perspective and a deep understanding of the needs of children, families, and educators.

    Nicole holds her Master of Professional Education and is currently working toward her Doctor of Education degree. She is passionate about leadership in early learning, reflective practice, and maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism within the program. She is committed to creating inclusive, engaging environments where children feel safe, capable, and valued, and where educators feel supported in their growth.

    As both an educator and a mother of four wonderful children, Nicole understands the importance of strong relationships and open communication with families. Outside of work, she enjoys running—especially at Disney World, where she combines her love of fitness with a bit of fun and magic.

    Nicole is proud to be part of the CBELC community and looks forward to continuing to support its growth and success.

    Alice comes to us with more than 12 years of experience working in many different avenues of childcare. She graduated with Honours from Mohawk College and is certified in Infant Mental Health. Her favourite part of childcare is creating relationships with all the families. She believes we as educators are here to support you and your family in any way possible. It's our job to ensure your child is cared for and supported on all levels, but most importantly has fun!! A messy child is a happy child. She is a mother of one and spends her free time with her family and dog getting outdoors or trying new restaurants.

  • CYW, BADEN EXTENDED DAY SUPERVISOR

    Aimee was born and raised in the Wilmot community and has been with Creative Beginnings Early Learning and Care since 2017. With a background in Child and Youth Studies and Social Work, she brings both knowledge and compassion to her role, supporting children and educators as they grow in confidence, creativity, and belonging.

    As Extended Day Supervisor, Aimee enjoys bringing educators with diverse backgrounds and experiences together to create engaging, intentional programs for children and families. She oversees a variety of opportunities—from before- and after-school care to PD days and winter break, March Break, and summer camps—ensuring each environment is safe, nurturing, and fun. Aimee loves watching the children learn and play, and she values building strong, lasting relationships with the families in her programs.

    Outside of work, Aimee enjoys spending time with her family and embracing her new role as a mom. She also loves being outdoors, making memories with family and friends, and exploring charming small-town spots—from cozy cafés and restaurants to little boutiques and shops.

    Hello, my name is Courtney Britton, and I am incredibly excited to introduce myself as the Supervisor of Creative Beginnings Early Learning and Care—Elmira. With 8 years of dedicated experience in the field of Early Childhood Education, I am deeply passionate about fostering a warm, supportive, and engaging environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive. I feel truly privileged to work alongside our team of talented and compassionate educators, and I am eager to collaborate with them to provide the highest-quality care and education. I’m also thrilled to welcome new children and their families to our centre, and I look forward to building strong, lasting relationships as we embark on this exciting journey together. At Creative Beginnings, we are committed to making every child’s early learning experience both meaningful and joyful, and I can’t wait to be part of that wonderful process.

    Hello, my name is Kristy Araujo, and I am delighted to serve as the Assistant Supervisor and a proud member of the leadership team for our Elmira site at Creative Beginnings Early Learning and Care.

    With nearly 20 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of Early Childhood Education roles, as well as working for the local school board as a kindergarten teacher and special education resource teacher. These diverse experiences have given me a deep understanding of children's unique needs and strengthened my commitment to fostering their growth and development.

    As part of the leadership team, I am passionate about creating nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environments where every child feels valued and supported. I firmly believe that the early years are foundational in a child's life, and I am dedicated to ensuring each child at our centre receives the individualized care and guidance they deserve.

    I’m excited to collaborate with our talented educators and build strong relationships with families at our Elmira site.   • RECE, WATERLOO SITE SUPERVISOR

    My name is Marta Dunbar, and I am the Supervisor at our University location in Waterloo. I have been working in the Early Childhood Education field for over 10 years and am a proud graduate of Conestoga College.

    I was born in El Salvador and moved to Canada with my family in 2008. Being bilingual in Spanish and English has allowed me to connect with families from diverse backgrounds and support our inclusive centre community.

    I truly believe that the early years are incredibly important, and that providing a nurturing, supportive environment is vital to each child’s growth and development. Building strong, meaningful relationships with children and their families is something I value deeply. I genuinely enjoy getting to know each child’s unique personality and connecting with families within our centre community.

    Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and our six-year-old daughter. Some of our favourite activities include hiking, exploring new places, and enjoying cozy movie nights at home together. In the summer we enjoy going to our family cottage.

    Hello, my name is Angela Williacy, and I am the Assistant Supervisor at Creative Beginnings Early Learning and Care in Waterloo. With over 15 years of experience in the Early Childhood Education field, I bring both knowledge and a deep passion for supporting children, families, and educators.

    I was drawn to Creative Beginnings’ philosophy and quickly connected with its focus on meaningful care and relationships. I believe every moment of the day offers opportunities to nurture growth, build connections, and create a true sense of belonging. My goal is to ensure that children feel safe and valued, families feel welcomed and supported, and educators feel inspired and connected to our shared values.

    Outside of work, I enjoy forest walks, cottage visits, fishing, and dance parties with my energetic daughter, Aspen, and my husband. Our beagle, Camo, keeps life lively and fun at home also!
